To boldly go!
There is a large wall in our kitchen/diner that needs something hanging on it. I bought a large canvas about six months ago which I thought, painted, would be perfect. BUT, there it sits, BLANK! I just haven't been able to decide what to put on the large daunting area. My work is normally quite small, detailed and generally girlie but I quite fancied having a go at something bold and graphic. I designed some small paper ideas that could be blown up but which one should I choose? Should I go graphic floral or use the kitchen theme? I've photoshoped them onto the wall so you can see how they would look in situ. Which one do you prefer?

Treats...........
......for me. I went to a Vintage and Handmade fair last weekend. It was a very small fair but I found a cute little bunny by Sylvac (or I think is) and discovered a great local lady who sells on Etsy who's stall was just the best. See her shop on Etsy via this link. www.etsy.com/shop/Fluffington

Zingy!
Apparently neon colours and acid brights are going to be part of our summer essential wardrobe. I'm not sure they will suit me head to toe but I love bright accessories so hopefully I will look "on trend" a little bit! Meanwhile I have a few neon things for my home that really make me feel very happy and brighten my day whenever I see them.

Linda Miller
A sheltered spot Copyright Linda Miller |
I treated myself to a FABULOUS Linda Miller workshop yesterday, a day of sewing, fantastic! Linda generously shared lots of sewing secrets, showed us tons of her lovely work (see example above) and taught us many new embroidery techniques. I was reminded how much I love free machine embroidery, something I haven't done for ages and ages. We spent a day with Linda and we all pretty much completed a design so a very satisfying day all round! Thanks Linda for a fantastic day and for being a very patient teacher. See here for Linda's website and blog www.lindamillerembroideries.co.uk
My attempt, as you can see I need lots more practice. |

Baby Shower
Baby showers aren't that common in the UK but as my friend is having TRIPLETS (yes triplets) it seemed like a good time to have.............a "Shower". Thanks to the lovely lady who organised it, we had a great evening. We drank pink champagne, measured the size of the bump, ohhed and arred at all the tiny baby clothes (they are like dolls clothes as the babies are expected to be premature) and nattered about how on earth she is going to do it. Afterwards it struck me that whatever you call it, Baby Shower, Girls Night or a Mums get together, that what our evening was really about was solidarity. She'll be fine I'm sure, but if she needs anything we are all there for her. Meanwhile I'm going to enjoy some peace and quiet myself and eat the Baby Shower cake above that I bought home and brace myself for half term holidays next week and I only have two "babies"!

Tidy up time...........
I always love having a nosey at peoples creative spaces, offices, studios or whatever you want to call them. After a big tidy up I thought I'd share a couple of snaps of what is in my office. If only it could be this clean and tidy all the time!

Guinea pigs
We have two Guinea pigs, Gloria and Daisy, I wasn't keen to get pets, (more clearing up to do) but they are part of the family now so I'm glad we did. Our friend Joan bought us these gorgeous salt and pepper pots because she knows we are pig mad and I love them. Maybe they are the start of a new collection?

Stuffies!
Every month I meet up with some crafty friends for a couple of hours and we make something, have a natter and eat cake. What we make can vary. Sometimes one of us has a skill to share or we all learn a new technique together. Some months we meet and just use the time to explore a technique we already know. We exchange ideas swap books and knowledge, forcing us to experiment with a wide variety of techniques and media. At our last crafty "sesh" we made "stuffies" which are a kind of quirky soft character that we designed ourselves and filled with lavender and stuffing. I now have mine perched all over my house cheering me up on a grey winters day!

legless!
I seem to have an obsession with for things without legs! It all started with my grandmothers salt and pepper pots and has progressed to childrens toys and anything else I can get my hands on. It's funny how these things creep up on you!
