The strangest of weeks...

There is a new normal but at least the sun has shone and I have been inspired to make some springy art...

A productive week back at work!

Blimey, I hope I'm as productive the rest of the year as I have been this week. I think a rest and a break from normal life over Crimbo has given me some turbo drive. This week I've reupholstered a chair, made 3 cushions, made some coasters, been getting the hang of Adobe Photoshop and have made loads of new art for clients. Roll on 2020, I'm ready for yer!!!!

It's my birthday today...

I've had a fabulous day full of indulgence. My mum made me this fantastic blanket. It took her a year to complete. Isn't it gorgeous?

My week last week : )

My week as a designer. Promoting published products, creative time in my sketchbook, on a train to a meeting (wearing my customized pom-pom scarf) and wrapping soaps in some of my patterns designs just because it's fun.

1) To sing more (I belong to  Rock Choir which starts back next week).
2) To make more stuff (I love crafting but but when life gets busy it's the first thing that gets forgotten), I made the decs above over Xmas ; )
3) To look at my phone less.
So far I'm doing ok on two of them lo! How are you doing with your resolutions?

Still loving a pom-pom

As the nights draw and it's getting wintery outside, I find making pom- poms a cosy occupation while snuggling up on the sofa of an evening. I can't stop adding them to stuff and making them. When making my own I use  a pom-pom maker from here, it's great and you can make them super quickly and in different sizes. For ideas on what to do with pom-poms once you've made them take a look at my Pinterest page here.

Pom-pom pussy willow...

It's half term so I'm finding some time to make some things in between cooking, tidying, ferrying and refereeing children  : ) This is so easy to make and looks so cheerful on our table.

Annali Fabric by Stephanie Thannhauser for Dashwood

Dashwood ran two competitions over the summer, giving away some fabric, fabric scraps and bits and pieces pre-made with Dashwood fabric. The lucky winners have been busy making their own creations using the fabrics and they have shared some of those makes. You can see them all on the Dashwood blog here. Emma was one of the winners and has made this sweet cat cushion using the teal print from the Annali collection. Cool hey?

A Crafty Birthday

It's one of my crafty friends birthday soon - it's a BIG birthday. Her family are making her a book full of memories, words and art. To send her our best wishes and love our crafty group have made little labels to stick in the book. The first two are mine - had really great fun making them.

Wood block printing...

I went to a fab. wood block printing workshop with Jamie Malden from Colouricious last week. It was a wonderful, messy full day playing around with wooden printing blocks (there are some really gorgeous ones) and fabrics. You can even have your own design made into a wood block if you like which is very tempting. I came home with tons of printed fabrics which I can't wait to get sewing with and embroidering on. It was so nice to have a play and try something new : )

Buttons

I went to a FABULOUS talk on buttons tonight. Jenny Swindell talked about their history, how they were made and what materials they were made from, their evolution and for some, their symbolism. Seeing Jenny's collection of hundreds of buttons was wonderful, so decorative and some were teeny tiny. I know a talk on buttons isn't very rock and roll but just look at these pretties, so gorgeous!
