"Oh............ I do like to be beside the seaside"

............... because there are ice creams, cliff top walks, drives through Farrow and Balled villages, the pub on rainy days, rock pooling and the beach when the sun comes out, camp fires and walks along the pier. I love camping (when it's sunny and we did have lots of sun, thank goodness) but it's nice to be back in a proper bed and not miles from the loo!

Glamping!

We are going on holiday camping for the week. I'm hoping it will be glamping but that all depends how much mud there is. Fingers crossed it stays nice and dry! I'll be back on the 29th of August.

Happy Birthday to me!

It's was my birthday yesterday. I don't want to get any older. I think when you get to a certain age we all feel like that. Maybe if we could just travel backwards and forwards in time and relive happy moments in the past, that would be good and make up for the wrinkles. For starters I'd like to be 8 again and wear this Crimplene dress ("Crimplene", that's a fabric you rarely see nowadays. Incidentally, an old school friend is in a band called The Crimplenes). This dress was lovingly made by my Mum, it had a prickly lace collar and was extremely short. The good old 70's hey?

In light of the recent rioting and sickening madness happening in the UK, it was nice to find these links (thanks Comfort Blanket). There have been many inspiring reports of people helping each other in the aftermath of the riots,  but I thought that the use of  the humble Post it Note in Peckham spoke volumes. It is a simple and effective visual way for a community to show their solidarity against those trying to destroy their neighbourhood. Follow this link here to see more. Another link that gave me a more hopeful perspective on recent events, was this article here from the Action for Happiness website. Let's hope that together we can unwind this complex mess and that the thugs and criminals will stop.

Ta very much..........

......... to all the folk who came and saw me on my stall on Saturday. The Antique and Vintage Fair was fabulous, I sold lots of work, met tons of lovely people and enjoyed a day surrounded by stalls full of beautiful things. Perfect!

Paint a pot

For Craft club last month we went to a pottery studio and had a go at painting a blank piece of pottery. Like a lot of things that look easy, it wasn't. Painting a 3d object with paints that can't be rubbed out was tricky. Once you have finished your pot you have to leave it at the studio for a week to be fired. This was agony as I was dying to see the final colours and effect. Here is my pot finished and fired ready for use. I think it looks okay, a bit blobby in some areas but hey I had a go. I just want to do more now! PS: I tried not to "put a bird on it" but I just couldn't help it.
