Bruce Monro - Winter Light

If you are up near Aylesbury in the next couple of weekends, the Bruce Monro Winter Light at Waddesdon Manor is well worth going to. The light sculptures are in the gardens of the Manor till the 1st Jan 2014. They are illuminated from 3pm so after you have visited the house you can explore the trail around the gardens as the light begins to fade. You can't really see the scale of the installations in these pics but they are BIG! Some sweep down lawns (the last pics show this) and other tower over you. It's begining to feel alot like Christmas

Today we took a break from the manic, hecticness which is the run up to THE big day. It felt really Christmassy at Waddesdon Manor but peaceful, calm and beautiful. We went to see Winter Light by Bruce Munro (more on that tomorrow) but whilst waiting for dusk we went in the Alpine Chalet (all decked out with snow, reindeer (fake) and Christmas trees), stroked Huskies (real), visited the lovely shop, my kids loved the woodland playground and we saw the gorgeous Lord Rothschild home (unfortunately only from the outside this time - sold out ) which is like a beautiful ornate wedding cake perched in wonderful lit landscaped gardens. It was blooming cold though so hot chocolate to the rescue.

I was super excited to be invited to the Dashwood open day so was really looking forward to seeing Annali in the flesh so to speak. Wow... what a fab. job David and the team have done creating so many projects from the Annali fabric range (the chair is lovely and so beautifully upholstered by April ; ) ). It's so great seeing the designs you have created actually made into products. I might have made the odd thing myself in the past but seeing a whole room set using your very own designs is well cool (as my daughter would say). You can buy this fabric range from good fabric shops or online here from The Village Haberdashery.

... but a trip to Stowe Landscape Gardens perked us up. They are very near to us and every time we go we discover something new amongst the 40 temples and monuments. Well worth sticking your wellies on and packing a flask for : )
