UFO's

Unfinished Objects! Do you have any unfinished sewing and craft projects? I do and it seems so do loads of other people. This is why "The Unfinishable" project was started by Hazel Connors and Felicity Clarke. We saw it at The Knitting and Stitching show, a splendid tent decorated inside and out with all sorts of unfinishable projects, patchwork, embroidery, knitting, lace making etc.... Every piece has a story of why it was started and why it remains unfinished. Felicity and Hazel explore the realm of the almost-right, the heroic failures as assessed by the makers themselves.  Other eyes may not be able to see any problem with the work or may see solutions to its resolution but it is the maker’s views alone which they are interested in. I loved the fact that the creativity and enthusiasm of starting to make something is celebrated and acknowledged. Seeing the pieces patched together made a very beautiful sight and showed the projects didn't really need to be finished to be enjoyed. I'll try and remember that when my pile of "stuff to do" falls over next time. For more info see the link here

Rocktastic!

Celebration Day
Swan Song / Atlantic Records

I went to the cinema to watch a gig last night and what a great experience it was too. I saw Celebration Day, the film of the much talked about 2007 Led Zeppelin concert. Apparently, when the tickets went on sale 20 million people tried to get their hands on one of only 22 000 tickets at the O2. Obviously it wasn't like being at the real gig but folk in the cinema clapped and whooped between songs which was weird and brilliant. If you like to ROCK then this film is for you. Click here to watch the trailer and see men who are way over 21 rip the stage up. I hope I rock like that when I'm in my sixties.

Laura

A sad haunting song by Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes which is on repeat in our house at the moment.  It's the piano that does it for me every time. It's the perfect song to listen to as the nights  draw in.

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.

Ilona, at I Drew This,  has started a digital blog version of one of my favourite games, Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes (the paper version is played by someone drawing a head, they then fold it so no one can see it, the next person draws a body then hides it and so on till all the body is finished. Then you can look and see what madness has been created). I was lucky enough to take part in last weeks digital game - such fun. The theme was "Red". Here is the final bonkers image. The head is created by Ilona's Dad at Geoscoperlous and the legs and feet are by Moira Milman. The body is by Moi. Fab hey : )
STOP PRESS: Ilona has just started a blog dedicated to the Head shoulder knees and toes game called Flick'n'mix, Why don't you pop over and get involved : )

[Doctor No poster]

Tomorrow is  Global James Bond Day. It's 50 years since Dr No premiered. I love all the Bond films, the glamour, exotic locations, the action, the cars and gadgets and of course Mr Bond. This is my favourite scene in all of the 22 films. Sean Connery is the coolest. Off to see Skyfall in a couple of weeks, can't wait!
